  1. Absolutely unbelievable Niki, I cannot believe the council didn't inform you of what was going to happen?? I bet they would inform Tesco's if they were placing bollards outside one of their express shops! Hope you get the situation sorted.

  2. Oh Niki, I am so sorry to hear this news. As a shopowner of a family business also on a quaint main thoroughfare, I know exactly what you are going through. We have many government agencies controlling our road (it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as our own town's protective agencies). I'll be thinking of you and wish you all the very best.

  3. Sorry to read about this Niki.
Hope you can get the Council to listen. Uneblievable that you weren't contacted/consulted.
Don't they care about traders/customers/visitors? I guess the answer is "obviously not".

  5. Oh Niki! I can fully understand your despair! I cannot park anywhere near my shop for most of the year, so like you I rely on being able to pull up outside on those occasions when I just have too much to carry, and it's absolutely essential when you have furniture and other bulky items. What on earth were the council thinking????
    Sending you love and support,

  6. Niki ypu do not need the sort of hassle how can they say they want businesses on their town and then do this to all of those shops. It seems like that was a paper exercise by the Council. Contact the press

  7. Arrogant, ridiculous, pencil pusher decision! Do they want an historic town or a ghost town? Good luck, Niki. xx

  8. Good luck dealing with the council, as an ex council employee (though not in Bath) may I advise you get a 'name' to send your letter to otherwise it will go round and round the office with no-one wanting to claim responsibility. I would also send a copy to your local councillor and your MP. These people have a lot of clout in any council. Good luck sorting it out I look forward to seeing pictures of them being removed by the council!!
