We started at No.1 Royal Crescent (the far right in the photo above)- the best address in Bath and is a restored town-house with rooms decorated in the finest Georgian style. Photography wasn't allowed inside but you can catch a glimpse here.
We then went on to Bath's most famous landmark, The Roman Baths.
The genuine Roman parts are the lower levels, the statues and raised walkways were added in Victorian times.
A wonderful view with the Bath abbey in the background.
Sunlight glistening on the hot mineral waters.
The must-stop for lunch is Sally Lunns. It is the oldest house in Bath and home to the Sally Lunn Bun!
We then walked off the buns in the botanical gardens......
....stopping every few minutes to enjoy the spring blooms.

Hi Niki, I went to Bath last Saturday with my husband for the day and we had a lovely time. I loved all the historical buildings and found a few 'vintage' shops which to browse around. The day was gloriously sunny which enabled us to have our lunch outside....bliss. Julie x
ReplyDeleteI've just been looking at your beautiful pictures and imagining Anne Elliot(Persuasion) spending her time there. I grew up in Somerset but I only visited Bath once or twice. We always tended to head further west during days out. Thank you for the little visit. I really enjoyed it.

ReplyDeleteOh gosh! I visited England about 5years ago. We LOVED Bath sooo much. Could you hear me squealing when I saw your pic of Sally Lunn's!? hee hee The Roman Baths were just awesome! It was a trip of a lifetime! I dream of visiting again someday!

Bath is beautiful, Our dear and closest family friends are from England and opened up Sally Lunns here in Chester, NJ, complete with all scrumptious and delicious goodies: clotted cream, scones and the Sally Lunn Bunn. I'll upload some pic to my blog soon!

ReplyDeleteEven though I have lived here for 29 years .. I still feel there is so much of my home town that I still haven't seen.. lovely to have this armchair guided tour.
I practically lived in Victoria Park when my son was a baby.. we would go to the botanical gardens every day ..weather permitting.. I haven't been there for years!
Your new work shop/studio is coming on very nicely.. I am sure you will give it some wonderful finishing touches.

Thank you for posting the lovely photos of Bath...had a trip planned there last May which was cancelled last minute due to my Mom's illness and am still sad about it, so your post was a nice little "virtual" tour that made me smile!
