Back to Black

I decided to go for a sense of drama with the little cupboard make-over. A 1920's cotton with a jet black background and rosy pink roses trailing across, now lines the door panel.
I used PVA glue to hold it in place (at about 11pm last night!)
I thought I would also include a photo of my velvet flower framed mirror, which is in the same room, as I haven't shown it in place before.
A favourite postcard of mine nestles amongst the pansies and violets.

Hope you're having a great day,
Niki x

  1. The cupboard looks fantastic Niki. Very dramatic. I love the contrast of the paint colour with the fabric. I bought some similar fabric a while back from ebay I think but it was a little disappointing in that the black was not as black as I hoped. It had an almost greenish tinge to it. Still lovely though and I've made myself a nice shopping bag with it.

Ok, now where on earth did you find all of those velvet flowers? The mirror is drop dead gorgeous!!! I have on flower and it was 5.00. Now if only I could be lucky and stumble on more...but for less.

  4. I'm going to do the same thing with a little 3 drawer chest I stol......uhhhh, borrowed from my daughter's house in Calif. when we were down there the last 2 weeks, nostalgia chickee! Got some fabulous finds. She had french wire baskets stacked in her shed along with the little chest and I took them to redo for my house! What a brat to hide those from me!

  12. Well I'm sure that if I was up playing with PVA at 11pm the outcome would be far far less impressive! You're a marvel! The cupboard looks amazing and that mirror!!!! Just edible! But how do you dust it? I'd never dare do that as it would be covered in cobwebs within a week round here! xxx
