This Week

I've finished re-decorating our guest bedroom. I've painted the ceiling, walls and also the floor in a record time for me...it took me two days! Honestly, I've rediscovered muscles I'd forgotten I had. I've left the floor paint to cure for now, before we move the furniture in, hopefully on Saturday evening. (The little bag below is a clue to the colour I have used on the walls! ;-))
So today, I've been back at work for a rest! ;-))
Not quite true...There's been a few new items hot of the sewing machine this week...
I made a pair of these patchwork cushions...
We're sold - thank you!
And a matching knitting/sewing bag.
A handbag of similar colours, with cute fringe detail.

And a teeny-tiny bag made from a fragment of quilt.

I'm sold - thank you!
Also this week I've bought several panels of vintage fabrics from a dealer friend, and these Deco buckles.
This morning I packaged them up, to offer for sale.
I used original Victorian photographs and some velvet ribbon.
**
That's it for now...
I'll leave you with some recent photos taken in the shop.

  4. What a great marketing idea, to put the buckles on a photo with ribbon. Also the "hula" skirt of scarves. Do you use a pillow form for your toss pillows, or do you stuff them with polyester?

I'm impressed with your speedy redecorating in the bedroom--mine seems to go on for years!

  6. With my head under a towel, inhaling the soothing methol and eucalyptus vapours I got to thinking. What is it that this star of stage, screen and Stone House (Nostalgia at) can't do? Finding an answer was more taxing than this blooming bug I've been fighting for over a weak!

Then it hit me... Drum roll required here..

I bet like me, (and before you think I'm like you Niki, think again... I'm not, I'm a Super Sloth) you can't just chill without feeling guilty?

  7. Hi Hollace,
Thank you for your comment. To answer your question; I use a separate cushion pad inside my handmade cushion covers. I use a feather filling, as I feel it give a quality finish and lots of squishyness!

    Have a great day,
    Niki :)

  8. To Letticeleaf,
Thank you for your comment and I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling so unwell - Hope you feel much better very soon...There's a weekend to look forward to!

I do know how to chill, and do sometimes, but I'm naturally a fidget; always have been, and probably always will be! I can't sit still without having something on the go, be it sewing, sticking or scouring magazine photos to add to my inspiration scrap books. As I get older, I do find it more difficult though...and at times go to bed shattered.
Right, off to work now - Feel better soon,
    Niki x

  10. Hello Niki!
Well, I've spent the last week going through your whole blog...and I have to say, I'm exhausted! YOU'VE BEEN SO BUSY!!
These years of your life that you've shared on this blog are amazing...I really need to check out your book next.
I have to say, bar none, yours is my favorite blog and I LOVE your style. Every picture you share is a piece of artwork, each thing you make is awesome, and I want to come to England and shop with you!!
I'm jealous...our old garage sales and fleas are fun, but they don't have much in the way of lovely materials and vintage yummies you have at your disposal there. Wonder if I could talk my hubby into making a trip.....HA! yea right.
In my dreams I'll visit, but in the mean time, I'm going to be your haunt, and I'm going to be re-looking through your blog and taking much more time to browse your pictures. Your life sounds full and amazing.
All the best to you and your endeavors and I really look forward to many more posts and lovelies.
    Blessings, Doni

  11. Dear Niki,
Wonderful blog as usual! Recently you visited A La Ronde, near Exmouth and mentioned it on your blog. I knew then that I just had to go there and see it for myself and we did just that last week and I put it on my blog! You told me how to go about starting a blog. I tried to do a link thing to your blog about A La Ronde but failed!
Technology was never a strong point with me!
