Birthday, Bottles and Beloved

It was hubby's Birthday over the weekend, so I treated him to lunch out on Sunday. We headed off to Sherborne, Dorset, for a change...
Medieval scenes around the Abbey and Almshouse.

It was a lovely peaceful day, but so hot!
So we didn't stay out that long...
And came home to keep cool in our stone house...
Where I sorted out my most recent purchases...
I bought a collection of antique bottles.
Some dated from 1864 and many were of local interest.
There were several from Bath (once containing Bath spring water), Bristol, Trowbridge and Melksham.
I bought the little red enamel tea pot for myself. Those who know me well, will be aware that I like a cuppa or two throughout the day! ;-))

This Victorian framed print dates from 1888.
I'm going to frame the advertising board below.
And this old fire-screen was missing its feet from the bottom...But its OK...I bought it for the tapestry inside, which I shall use to make a colourful cushion.
I spent Monday afternoon painting these two sets of shelves. (The small wall shelves sold at the shop yesterday.)
Thank you Jill for the potted gerbera!

I have just been offered a pitch at the next V&H Christmas Fair (thank you kindly Michele and Jayne!) I shall be upstairs this time, which is very handy for the tea shop! ;-))
More details can be found on my blog's side bar.

Finally, I thought I'd just mention a short film that our youngest daughter was involved in. During the summer holidays she went for an audition at Suited and Booted Studios and was offered an acting role in a short film entitled 'Beloved'. A group of 15 - 19 year olds worked together to create the film, which was written by a young person.

  2. That's great you are doing the xmas fair, Niki. Hope you have a fairy for me...
Happy Birthday to hubby, what a cute photo of your grandaughter. Loving the green paint on those shelves, too.
Really enjoying your books, thanks so much, but many late nights are ensuing! Bought a lovely old chest today to store my civil war doll quilts. And yet more fabric? I blame my sister. She loves her calendar.
