Sew Recycled.

Just wanted to share with you my 18 year old daughter's final major project piece for her Art Foundation diploma. I am amazed that she could produce this after one year, in a very broad subject, which covered many techniques and art forms. She has gained a pass with a merit, so is thrilled to bits.
She recycled lots of my vintage fabric scraps to create a fully boned corset, with lace and button trims.
It was designed to be worn in a pop video, so she printed the silken fabric of the skirt with sheet music
I've displayed it in our living room on my wasp wist mannequin.
(In between taxiing the girls around!) I finally managed to do some sewing in my new workspace yesterday, too! Hooray!

  2. I applaud your daughter very loudly!!! What a beautiful well made and crafted dress. She has had a perfect tutor to follow!
I wish I had a workroom like yours (can't really count the dinning room table as a workroom really!)
Well done to your daughter again.

  7. WOW! That girl's got talent! Forget the pop video - someone should wear it out to tea! It's just beautiful. Lucky you to have it in your sitting room to enjoy! I think you're going to have plenty of inspirational company in your workroom. Hubby just needs to build a long work-table for 3 sewing machines all in a row! Great that you finally got back to your sewing! xx
