Lace, Pearls and a Smattering of Stitches

I love the combination of old dusky pinks and washed-out creams, which to me give a instant faded grandeur look to my collections of vintage treasures, à la Miss Haversham.
If I were more controlled in my choice of lovelies to fill our home, this would be the palette I would stick with...but I am a fickle being and am often swayed when the mood takes me... turquoise sitting next to red always has a magical zing about it; with pastel blues and greens a serene tranquil feel...

But today I am being strong, and am sticking with the time worn creams and pinks...

On discovering this whole collection of unused vintage necklace clasps, it has been the start of a little crafting, when I have had a few moments to myself.

A bit of antique lace...

Scraps of velvet ribbon, rag strips, buttons and braids have combined to make a fanciful necklace.

I'm also working on another pair of my fantasy shoes, but these take time...

Quicker handmade projects are these little lace flower brooches made from more antique lace fragments, millinery leaves and mother-of-pearl buttons.

I have been working on all of these to take along to The Vintage Bazaar, Frome, in October. Yes, I know its still a while away yet, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared...believe me!!

And where to keep these new pretties? Well in a matching trimmed trinket pot, of course!
Luscious lace, faux pearls and a shell button or two.
And finally, one of my smaller rag dolls has just been completed - I've named her Verity. (More details can be seen on my other blog.)
Hope you can find some creative time too,
Niki x
