One of Today's Projects...

Hope you've had a good start to the week...
After running lots of errands this morning, I was determined to find time for this little project this afternoon...
A c1950's boudoir dressing table stool that I found yesterday.
I felt the regency striped fabric covering the seat was a little dated, but I liked the floral details on the legs and frame of the stool. I didn't feel it needed painting, and thought it best to keep the gold highlights original to the stool.
Using the mouldings as my inspiration, I chose a pretty vintage rose printed fabric to re-cover the top (one of my favourites actually!)
I removed the old braid and nails from the upholstery and simply stapled the fresh fabric over the top, trimming off the excess flush with the staples.
I had plenty of this vintage pleated trimming in my supplies, which was ideal for hiding the staples.

This was glued in place.
I think it has a more feminine look now and would be a fun addition to a girl's boudoir!

Some of my other purchases for the shop over the weekend, were this old wool rug...
A little worn at the edges, but still usable and pretty.
Some fabric covered drawers, green pressed glass jug, glass toothbrush holder, an Observer book and a sparkling brooch.
I also bought a doll's wooden bed, which I intend to make some bed linens for. I'll show that project when its complete.
Hope you have a great week,
Niki x

  6. I think the stool looks so much prettier with the floral fabric you've used. I've got some old bedroom chairs that I once recovered with some maroon brocade...feel another project coming along!
