There was a particular stand there that I found completely incredible and nostalgic. The stall holder had bought the entire contents of a shop in Malta. Amazingly all of the stock dated from the 1950's and 60's and included masses of Christmas decorations, tiny cracker toys, haberdashery, hair accessories and beauty products.
To be able to buy just a small selection of these completely unused items, made my day! It is always surprising how small prices soon add up, so I had to restrain myself! - But I am chuffed with my purchases. Which included all of the above and these tiny ribbon rosettes, perfect for my handmade dolls.....
The beautiful antique cream lace came from Sue.
The sparkly jewelery pieces are a Christmas present, which I may place inside the little pink silk lined basket .
And finally I was over-the-moon to discover over 100 vintage glass Christmas decorations.
I'm not quite ready to decorate the house for the festive season, so have stored them in my painted chest of drawers - I have to keep going and having a sneaky-peek every now and then!!

Now that's the kind of Christmas shopping I DO enjoy!
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI have been admiring your blog since I found it about a week ago, and I have to say this entry is my favorite so far. Everything you found is so very beautiful! You are a very lucky lady. Enjoy!
My jaw has dropped to the floor! What a treasure trove! Everything is amazing, and unused... WOW! I can't even begin to choose a favorite amongst the bunch!
ReplyDeleteWell, if I don't receive a plane ticket to England under my Christmas tree, I'll just have to buy one myself. I've waited long enough to return! =) (Hubby and I used to visit every year... sigh.)
that's the only kind of enjoyable Christmas shopping! How lovely

OH-MY-GOODNESS! What wonderful finds - the Christmas baubles are just up my street! Wish I could have been there!
ReplyDeleteHi Niki
ReplyDeleteIt's at times like this I wonder why I'm selling and not joining you buying at the Giant Flea. Wherever did you find all those goodies? I whizzed round all the stalls (or so I thought - must have missed some) and saw none of that.
Totally green with envy, but I know you'll do it all far more justice than I would!!
Thanks for the mention!
Sue xx
