Once cut out, they were stitched together on the sewing machine. The whole thing was then pulled over the frame and I hand stitched it around the top and bottom, pulling it taught. The hand stitches can then be hidden beneath a piece of fabric binding, glued in place.
Tadahhh!
Very beautiful, Niki! You are a clever woman!
ReplyDeleteoh!c'est si joli, les imprimés sont toujours bien assortis,so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI think I agree with mirka, not sure. Very nice Niki, so finished looking around the top and bottom.

Hi Niki,
ReplyDeleteI covered a big old lampshade too, but instead used one style of vintage fabric oneside and something else on the other - had a few mishaps along the way though.
Your efforts were worth it, I love the patchwork idea, it's beautiful!
best wishes Ginny
What a great idea! I love the look!
ReplyDeleteYour lampshade looks great! I would love to sew a table cloth with all my favourite flower fabrics very soon.... But well at first, I need to finish all the hearts for my swap...
ReplyDeleteOnly yesterday I was looking at my bedside lamp and deciding how to re-cover it! I hope mine turns out as lovely as yours! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous lampshade (and lamp)! The perfect little reading nook.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Niki, when you did those patchwork little ones, did you stick them on to the original shade, or do something clever to fix them onto the wire framework?
ReplyDeletenow that is gorgeous! I love it.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of those ideas i have never seen before. Very special, and fun.Looks great :)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice and creative week!
That shouldn`t be a problem...:)
Greetings, Aina
Hi Sue, thanks for the comment.
ReplyDeleteWhen I made the little lampshades, I cut up small scraps of fabric and pasted them onto a plain parchment shade, using PVA glue.
Hope this helps!
