In my bathroom I have a collection of vintage talc tins and toiletries. Last week I was lucky enough to add to my collection - I bought this pretty 'Gardenia and Sweet Pea' tin from my friend Clare's new website. It arrived beautifully packed in pink tissue with a lavender sachet attached.

Oh Niki, How gorgeous! You beat me to it on the tin of talc, I saw it on Clare's site and realised it was sold! Love the cabinets and the arrangements - you clever thing!
ReplyDeleteI love your cabinets, those tins look great in them.
ReplyDeleteI just wish I had the space in my house for more dressers so that I could start another collection....... I need to move...
right now!
Best wishes Ginny
NIKI,
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice collection. Makes me mad at myself, I had several tins years ago and decided on a cleaning spree that I didn't want them anymore. I have learned since to be more careful with my decision making while cleaning.
I took a peak at CLARE'S site, you are right, lots of good stuff, really enjoyed my visit there.

Nikki, your home is always beautiful...love the tins and they look gorgeous displayed in your cabinets.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a true joy to see this collection -- I love vintage tins & powders, but my collection is waaaaaay smaller than yours.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the little bottles with the doll heads? Perfume? (If I squinted really hard, it looks like they are named "Miss Rose, Miss Gardenia", etc.) They are absolutely charming!!
What a charming room! I love your glass front cabinet holding your treasures and towels.
ReplyDeleteI am loving those vintage talcum tins!! so yummy.
ReplyDeleteNiki - this must be the day of "glass fronted cupboards"... I posted my kitchen cupboard today! Mine is chock full of STUFF... yours makes so much more sense and is absolutely GORGEOUS! Care to cross the pond and do your magic with my cupboards?! =)
ReplyDeleteWow, so delicate!!!! I love and specially your nice cupboard. Just yesterday I displayed my soaps collection in my little bathroom
ReplyDeleteThose are so lovely! But my husband would complain (as he does about the kitchen) that there are too many decorative things taking up space, while the useful ones are hidden away. :)
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL! You get the nod of the week for your Beautiful Things!
ReplyDeleteOKAY, so I want to burn eveything I own
ReplyDeleteOoooooooooooooooooh, I'm JEALOUS =) How lovely! Debbie =)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed so much seeing the glass front cabinet with the marvelous display. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Becca,
ReplyDeleteYes, they are indeed perfume bottles (Unfortunately, one is missing) probably from the 1930's, as they are based on little flapper girls! They came from America.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments.
Niki. x
What a wonderful display, so much prettier than toiletries these days. This is one area where "repros" would be welcome.
ReplyDeleteNiki those cabinets look gorgeous. Wish I had space in my bathroom to show off all the pretty stuff and have the everyday things hidden away!
ReplyDeleteHi Niki,
ReplyDeleteYour bathroom is a dream!
Congratulations.

Hi and thank you for your comments.
ReplyDeleteTo the two lovely ladies who have asked about my shelf edging.
I bought them a couple of years ago from a dealer who buys from France. They are vintage French and are very thin paper. (They are now actually beginning to fade in the light!)
If you have a copy of 'The French Inspired Home' by Kaari Meng, the same shelf edgings in red, can be seen on page 22.
You could create something similar by printing a design on the computer, or cutting up wrapping paper...
Hope this helps, Niki.x
Oh... i'm jealous! What a great collection!! They look so sweet and delicate. I already have a colection of collections but there's always room for more! Love to read your blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Nikki! I just stumbled across your blog as I was doing a search on vintage tins. You decorate so beautifully! I am so wowed by your bathroom! I will definitely bookmark your site and come back!
