I was so pleased to find these fabulous antique picture frames with their old chippy gesso. One of the large ones will be converted into a box frame and used as part of my kitchen make-over.
from Sue.
A box stuffed full with antique lace edgings to use on my handmade dolls.
A selection of floppy velvet millinery flowers in mouthwatering hues. (thank you Liz!)

Some wonderful early postcards...sorry, I can't resist them!
And a pretty tapestry featuring a riot of country style blooms -I love the soft green background.

I hope to add some other vintage treasures to my website early next week.
I have to say that the driving rain didn't hurt your thrift day!! What a bunch of good stuff. I won't be going until Wednesday, so I will just look at your finds for now.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the feeling when you come home and get everything out?

OH, I wanted to tell you I just finished reading "HITTY" HER FIRST HUDRED YEARS, BY RACHEAL FIELD. Remember I ask you about your peg doll, kind of looks like a Hitty, but to buy them now they are way over 100 dollars, they are hand carved. Anyway, its such a nice story, I didn't want it to end. It makes you look at all your dolls in a whole different way.She had a real interesting life. She is in an antigue store when the story starts, then tells all about her many owners and her life. It was written in 1929.

I love your great finds, probably would have picked these same things up myself. Going flea marketing this weekend, hope I am as lucky.

I just read Sue's blog and she mentioned you'd being buying. You did so well. Lovely finds. I really like those mirrors.
ReplyDeleteThose frames look lovely. They would make fabulous pin boards don't you think.
ReplyDeleteYou've found some great stuff again Niki.
best wishes Ginny
Oh I just LOVE the Klein prints! Since I paint watercolor roses, my eyes are easily glued to her beautiful roses! And the millinery and laces... heaven! Can't wait to see your shop when you list!
ReplyDeleteI love the frames and the fabric!
ReplyDeleteFlea markets are really a good source for nice things!
Hi Niki
ReplyDeleteThose prints look far better belonging to you than they did at Dairy House!! You deserve them!
I promise there'll be no rain dance!
Sue xx
You know there are certain things that us bloggy people just can't keep our eyes off of and you have shown several of them today! I wanted to rub my nose in that pile of lace :)
ReplyDeleteOh yummy things Niki. I almost made it to a bootsale on Sunday (my first this year) but my car broke down :-(
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous finds as usual, thanks so much for showing them to us.
ReplyDeleteWonderful treasures, to be sure! Love the postcards; I rarely see anything like that here.
ReplyDeleteYou are the best flea market shopper! I just have to start going down here...If that's the sort of gorgeous goodies you bring home I need to get moving!
ReplyDeleteWish we were close enough to be constantly ooohin and ahhhhwing over each other's find...You done good.
ReplyDeleteIt's all so lovely! It's so fun to see all of it when you get home and see exactly what you have...and then decide where it's going to go, which is always fun!
ReplyDeleteI just realize it doesn't seem you can click on my name to come to my blog. I just wanted to leave it in case you wanted to visit me. www.mycozyhome.typepad.com

what wonderful finds! i can't wait to see what you create out of them! :)
ReplyDeleteYou certainly had a very successful day finding all those goodies. I particularly like the fabric featuring the violets, the old postcards and I can't resist any old lace - that looks a really good selection.
ReplyDeleteHi Niki, Yes I think we did really well to find what we did considering the awful weather - it was lovely to chat over lunch too!
ReplyDeleteI think maybe we'll have to do a 'sun dance' to counteract any 'rain dance' that Sue does!!!

Thank you so much for visiting and commenting on my little baby shoe! I did sell it but plan on making another. I love to visit your blog regularly and have since I started doing a blog for our little antiques store. The lace you discovered is amazing!! I just love looking at everyone's finds. Thank you again, Dawn

ReplyDeleteOh, those frames! I'm green with envy over them. You are a lucky woman.
ReplyDeletewow! love every single treasure that you uncovered. the yellow rose prints are to die for...and the lace! great finds!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous postcards, I love them, you must have quite a collection.
ReplyDeletePenny.
Hi there love the blog as ever you always seem to have something interesting to share.
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering if you know who's blog from last year ( a USA one I think) had a vintage style wedding and they decorated the chairs with vintage aprons and had kind of a shabby chic theme for the reception. I remember seeing it on someones blog but can't
think who's so I am asking around.
Diane.
Love the frames, the millinery bits and the old lace - terrific finds. And glancing over at Nancy Jo's comment about Hitty, it was one of my favourite books as a child. I never saw a Hitty doll, however, other than in photographs. BTW, the package arrived today - lovely, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love those picture frames. Can't wait to see what you do with them. Mary Mc
ReplyDeletePS I absolutely love your dolls
NIKI,
ReplyDeleteHow is the kitchen re-do going? I know how it goes when you move a few things, the whole house falls apart. But hope to see pictures when you are sane again.
Speaking of sane, I went to the thrift store again today, oh please stop me! No I don't really mean that so don't try. But I told myself I will stay home tomorrow. We will see how that goes.
NANCY JO
Those frames are absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlways so many pretty things when I get to visit your blog :)

I am looking for a frame like one of those to paint white or pale pink and convert into a memo board for my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteLove that subtle Laura A. wallcovering - think your kitchen will have even more of a wow factor! Don't blame you getting someone else to hang, so much easier on you. They try to tell us that wallpaper is "OUT" which is ridiculous - there are such beautiful ones now and always as place to hang them.
ReplyDeleteIf you visit me today ACROSS THE POND, you will see what I've done with a lovely "found" antique frame! Your's are just gorgeous and I know you'll make great use of them, even it just left standing on the floor - beautiful!
FABULOUS INDEED!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have some awesome stuff there and I can't wait to see what you do with all of it....
Keep up the fabulous treasure hunting....
Amy (Mom to the Four Sisters)
