Picture Perfect

I did type a similar blog post to this one yesterday evening, but Blogger was experiencing some technical difficulties and lost my post. I also lost some of your lovely comments to my previous post, but I suspect I'm not the only one to have had this problem. My thanks to all who did stop by...and here I go again with a shortened version of what I had aimed to say on Thursday, now that I've uploaded the relevant photos again.

I still remain surprised when the right vintage goods 'find me' and I am able to replace sold stock with something similar. I was given that expression by Lizzie when I confided in her once. I was a little taken aback, when I first opened my shop, by the amount of people who used to ask me where I sourced the shop's stock from. Lizzie told me that when she was asked the same question, that she would reply 'the right things always seem to find me'.

Of course it takes a lot of hard work for things to find us, and it isn't always wise to pass on too much information, so its useful to have an answer at the ready! ;-))

I recently sold the last of my vintage cottage prints (several went off with two lovely ladies who took them back to London with them - Hope that's not breaking customer confidentiality!), so I had been hoping some more would soon find me.

Thankfully my last couple of buying trips have been rewarded.

I love these old chocolate boxy prints, perfect if you live in a country cottage, or if you just have yearnings to.

This one is a charming old tapestry, probably from around the 30's.

I've bought some other pictures too, including this vintage poppy print...

And a grand pair of Victorian stag prints - Ideal for the walls of your hunting lodge!

The moulded frames are in near perfect condition too.

I've finished re-framing the 1933 newspaper page that I mentioned here.

I added antique lace to disguise the slightly discoloured cardboard mount, and then sandwiched the layers back under the old glass.

I am saving this to take with me to the Textile & Decorative Fair, in Glastonbury next Friday. It promises to be a very exciting event in a beautiful venue, with an array of exciting dealers, not all of whom will have been seen on the 'blogging circuit'.

I've been working on several special pieces to take on the day, which I shall hopefully show on my blog next week. I've gone for a fairly subtle cream palette, to work as a backdrop to some of my more typical colourful items.

Two gorgeous magazines, one from 1912 and one from 1918.

Adore the cover of this one.

I bought someone's collection of antique bottles...

These make perfect vessels to hold a few summer flowers on a sunny windowsill.

This chap, (which I will divulge!), came from Lizzie.

I had to ask him to stand outside my shop though, as I can't have smoking inside! ;-))

Small pieces of furniture have also moved in...

Cute sizes where space is limited.

Finally, I bought quite a few books. These two were favourites:

This one was written for the soldiers and sailors who lost their limbs in the 1st World War.

It has a beautiful collection of colour plates.

And Mrs. Beeton's cookery books are always a great find.

This one isn't perfect, but still has lots of useful information and recipes.
