Foxes and Flowers

At first I thought it was a neighbour's cat playing at the bottom of our garden, when I glanced out of the window on Sunday morning...But on closer inspection I realised there were two adorable little fox cubs. I grabbed my camera and tried my hardest to snap a few photos, but boy were they quick!

There was no way they wanted to hang around to be photographed. It's lovely to think we share our patch with these two beautiful creatures (and maybe there is Mum and Dad around too), but it does leave me wondering if it would ever be wise to replace the hens that we lost to a fox last year...Our hens were free range and I like to think had very happy lives...to have more, but to have to keep them cooped-up would not make me happy.

I do enjoy having a slightly tidier garden, without the input from curious hens and their constant dust-bowl making - Always in the flower borders, or where I had just made a space for a new plant to go...

Our front garden was always a hen-free zone; It has had to contend with a very dry spring this year though, and I feel does not look quite as lush as in previous years.

The aquilegias have managed to keep going through the dry spell...

Love these 'shaggy' looking ones, which I have in several colours now.

Back inside and having been working very hard producing some fun and new items for the 'T for T' fair this Friday, I took a few minutes to place some of my favourite things on display inside the little glazed dresser in our back room.

For anyone interested, I'll be back later in the week to show some of my handmade pieces which I have been working on. I'll have some to finish off on Wednesday, but hopefully they won't take me too much longer...
