All That Glitters....

I have just spent last week end at the Antiques and Collectors Fair, manning my stand...although I did get a little shopping time! Don't imagine for a minute that the big antique fairs are full of high-end antiques with very expensive price tags. There are many stands where pretty things are very affordable.

I have been able to add to my collection of glittery jewellery, for very little cost.....

I very rarely wear it myself- I don't get out much!!..but I like to display it in my bedroom. This is my old 1940's mannequin with her finery!

On my dressing table I have this beautiful French bust to display some necklaces.

I also couldn't leave without this wonderful Victorian Roses print. (I paid £10.00 for it, which I don't think is too bad.) It is often cheaper to buy the real thing than a repro, so if you haven't visited an antiques fair before, I would recommend it!!

  1. Ahh Niki I love your antique mannequin, it's beautiful! Oh I could adorn it too with all my jewellery but my collection is nowhere as nice and glittery as yours! Love the rose picture too, it's a bargain! I'm still working on your rose collage btw but I hope to get it ready on the weekend. xox

What pretty pieces..! If we only knew whose best 'frocks' they once adorned, what special occasions they were saved for..? Were they bought with housekeeping money saved for an indulgence, or received as gifts from a loved one..? Enamel and sparkling glass perhaps, but beyond rubies to their owners.

  4. I love all your old brooches. I must try NOT to visit antique fairs! I gather too much 'stuff'. We collect Mdina Glass, Toby collects old glass bottles, and since starting this jewellery making last year we now go around collecting old chains and beads and buttons too. Your house looks amazing, you display all your treasures and they look wonderful, most of ours end up in piles gathering dust for 'when we have more time'. It is fun collecting though.

Love your antique fair haul, and such a delightful way to display it all.

  8. What wonderful treasures you found! You could always use one of your exquisite brooches as a pin on a handbag as Amy Butler does on one of your bag patterns.

  11. Hi Niki, you found some lovely things and it's good that you made time to have a look round as well as standing for three days - it's hard work isn't it? The print is divine! I have a couple of similar ones - another collection in the making!!! Clare xx

  13. Hi Hulda,
    Thanks for your interest!!
As long as the parcel is under 2Kg, I think the shipping is quite reasonable. I always give my customers the shipping cost, before they agree to buy, so if you felt the shipping was too high, then you don't have to go ahead with the purchase.
I hope to add some new items at the end of the week- and I add regularly...
    Hope this helps!
