Hold the Front Page!

Hubby and I made the front page of the Shepton Mallet Journal today...Well, just about!...You may also recognise some of the other 'Victorians' from my previous post.

And the news is looking good on the high street, with the TV series already attracting visitors to the town, as well as possible interest in some of the vacant shops (I am reliably informed!)
I would really like to thank all who commented on my previous two posts, or emailed me privately saying how much you enjoyed the first programme, or wishing the town luck, or to say that you had spotted my shop several times throughout the documentary! I appreciate your visits and support - thank you x

I think the Edwardian era is going to be one of the best in the series, as the attention to detail and some of the scenery out on the Market Cross during the summer was beautiful. Next week, I shall again add some of the photos that I took at the time of filming, after the 2nd episode has aired.
Look out for the adorable Irene...she is set to be a star before the end of the series!

On the Market Place at the moment, inside the Postal Enquiries Office, is a set of information boards. They give an outline to each of the programmes.

Not the most exciting of displays...it would have been nice to have used some of the BBC props perhaps(?), but some local residents and shopkeepers are doing their own thing with other window displays where they can. I shall be changing mine very soon to reflect the Edwardian era...

But tomorrow I shall be busy sorting some stock to take to Compton House, Axbridge, for the shopping event taking place on Saturday and Sunday. More details can be found via my blog's sidebar, or on my website under 'fairs'.

Hubby has offered to look after my shop for me on Saturday, so Nostalgia at No.1 will be open as usual!
I also have my Mum arriving tomorrow for a short stay, so a busy time ahead...
Have a lovely evening,
Niki x

  2. I was the same - squealing and pointing every time I spotted your lovely shop! Having followed your story - from negotiating the lease onwards, I am so thrilled for you that this has all happened in Shepton. You deserve every success for your courage in pioneering your retail dream in the face of a forlorn high street and having the foresight to believe in a new resurgence in traditional shopping. You are a star Niki.
