Flowers from a friend.
Its funny how moving a few of your favourite objects around at home, has you seeing them in a different light...
When I buy vintage tea sets, there is inevitably a cup with a hairline crack in it...its these that I usually hang on to, rather than adding them to the shelves of my shop. The collection of my slightly damaged lovelies, has grown a little over the last few months, so I thought I'd display them under a glass dome, to ring the changes...
Up on top of a dresser in our back living room, they provide a splash of soft colour next to an old Barbola mirror and a French bust.

At the shop I've been continuing the small changes to the displays too...
At the shop I've been continuing the small changes to the displays too...
I took the collection of handmade handbags (that I mentioned in my previous post) down from the top of the dresser, as I felt things were looking a little cluttered...
I made this little French muslin pelmet to fit along the gap created at the top of the highest shelf, which I pinned in place. I also put some tatty crochet lace along the shelf edge.
I'm grateful for your suggestions for display ideas for the handbags, but I don't really have the space for more furniture or racks, so I moved some stock around to free up the shelves next to the dresser.
I was then able to display the bags inside these cubbyholes.
After last week starting off very quiet, Friday and Saturday certainly made up for things and I was very busy...
I ended up selling three of my bags, which makes me realise that a change around really does make people see things differently. Being at the shop only four days a week, means that I never expect a fast turnover of stock, but its always lovely to see items sold and going off to be with new owners.
Good sales meant I was able to go out sourcing new stock too! ;-))
I love coming home with fascinating little treasures like these miniature forks and spoons, and vintage brooches, of course. Packing them prettily is fun too and often makes them more desirable, turning them into great little keepsake gifts.
E'tutto così meraviglioso, sono incantata da ogni cosa.Rosetta di theromantirose.

Niki your finds never cease to amaze me and the shop looks lovely I prefer the bags on the shelves rather than hanging on the dresser, how about looping then over the corner of any of your chair backs as if you have just come home and left it there. I have been a fan since I started reading blogs and my second find after Vintage Home was Sophie Honeysuckle - can you still read her blog - she has made it open to invited readers only. I love her posts and like yours she is one of the blogs I like to read back again and again and I must see her complete kitchen. Do you have access ?
ReplyDeleteI just adore all of the bits and bobs you come home with. That is always a joy for me, to head out on a hunt for treasure. Sea Witch
