Yesterday I visited the Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair. It made a change for me to be buying there, rather than selling. I was able to visit all the stands that I wished without having to rush back to my pitch! I found the pretty pink cotton bedspread with hand crochet inserts and frilled edge - I may use it as a tablecloth or possibly a curtain. The rose wallpaper is French and will be useful to line small cabinets. I also found the small scale vintage trims for my handmade dolls.....
Teeny-tiny buttons, also for dolls and some pretty rose printed cigarette cards.
These colourful vintage greetings cards and postcards. A delicate china cup and saucer decorated with pansies and a French bonbon box perfect for storing the tiny buttons.
This stunning French fabric, featuring roses in baskets and a collection of flower holders which make excellent note stands - I love the verdigris finish they have acquired over time!
Wow, I am deeply impressed by so many wonderful goodies!
ReplyDeleteI wish there would bee such trade fairs in Germany, too!
But one question: What are cigarette cards???
What a fabulous score! I have looked for years to find one of thosse lovely flower holder thingys and never have,Im in Canada those, where real great treasures are harder to find!Fantastic score!

So many pretty things, it always gives me ideas and sends me running to the thrift store with a new out look for things.Look forward to see if you use some of the things for your web. shop.
Hope to find my package from you in my mail this week, will let you know when I get it.

ReplyDeleteYou always manage to find sucj lovely things, wish Shepton was nearer.
ReplyDeleteHi Anita,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment.
Years ago the cigarette cards were added to the box of cigarettes to strengthen it. Someone had the clever idea to make them decorative and there were differnt series printed. They were numbered and people started to collect one of each image in the set. You could also get albums to keep them in. I particularly like the roses series, but you can find them with animals, kings and queens, cars, actually almost any subject!
Hope this helps! Niki.x
Hi Nikki I am always so jealous and inspired by your great scores I can't wait for our trip in Feb heading to unthrifted unshopped territory so I have been saving my $$.
