They have inspired me to try something similar. I have a collection of old Edwardian postcards, printed with lovely ladies, so I have been embellishing them with vintage millinery flowers. The first one that I tried was a little over-the-top. I got carried away and kept adding more and more!!...including lace, buttons beads and flowers!
They are fun to do and all that is required is a few pretty embellishments and some glue.
They can then be placed in a picture frame or perhaps mounted on a greetings card blank with photo corners for a special gift card.
Here are some other items that I have crafted over the past week.

Hi Niki thank you for your comments on my post. I really appreciate the feedback on the art work. It's so different from my vintage stuff so am not sure where to actually display it yet.
ReplyDeleteI love your vintage cards, great idea to use on old photographs.
Best wishes Ginny
That's truly another enchanting idea you've had there Niki. Your embellished vintage cards are far more beautiful than the spanish ones. A great way to use your some of your never ending collection of gorgeous millenery flowers, lace, beads and buttons etc.!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, I never would have thought of this in a million years.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carol. Far nicer than the Spanish ones. Another lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to do with those old postcards! You are so creative and talented!

Lovely old postcards, I have some interesting ones as well. I hesitate to embellish them because of the family history but yours are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJust want to say Thank-you, for all the lovely things you post on your site, it is so wonderful and always so so inspiring Thanks for sharing, Crystal
ReplyDeleteGood job as usual Niki. Are those reg. size postcards? because the embellishments must be very small right? Hope I spelled that great big long word right.

Hi Lovella,
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right, I would not embellish valuable, rare or otherwise precious postcards. These were ones that I had picked up at flea markets for very little money.
Nancy Jo, yes indeed they are regular sized postcards and the flowers are really teeny-tiny! Tweezers help when gluing them down!
How clever of you! I would never have thought about embellishing old postcards!
ReplyDeleteHi Niki,
ReplyDeleteI have one of those pretty Spanish embroidered cards. I recently found it at the thrift store in a frame. I never realized it was embroidered until I took a third look. It’s a pic of the guardian angel and the two children. I love what you did to the cards. Fantastic idea; your mind is always thinking. Lately for me I've been thinking more about my son's college choices and my hospitals tests but this is great for stress relief. Lovely crafts as usual.
