Thank you Anna!

I arrived at my shop as usual on Thursday morning this week - After only being open for a couple of minutes, the owner of the Antiques Centre in Shepton Mallet called-by with a beautiful book under her arm. She handed it to me and told me it had been left for me by a lady who had visited the town when my shop was closed...
I was VERY surprised.
Inside the book was a little hand written message, explaining who it was from. I believe I have met the kind lady before - I think it was back in 2010 when the BBC were filming in the town.
So Anna, from Southampton, (I hope I have the right lady!) I can't thank you enough for such a generous gift...I had no idea how else to thank you, so I hope you will read this and know how much I appreciate this beautiful book...and I'll wonder how you were able to part with it!
I will share a few of the lovely illustrations with you now...
It is a large book, printed rather like a sketch book, showcasing the work of C.D. Gibson, and dates from 1903. As you can see by the title, it includes drawings of 'the weaker sex'...
And it soon becomes clear who the artist feels is the weaker one!

The Party Wall.
Design for wallpaper - Suitable for a bachelor apartment.
I thought I may print some of the beautiful portraits onto card and use them as a way to present ribbons and antique beaded pieces that I have for sale, as Anna requested I try and do something creative with it.

Thanks again Anna - I hope you read this post! x
Thank you to Jill for the scented sweet-pea posy you brought to my shop on Friday...
I'll see you next week...armed with my camera! ;-))
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone,
Niki x

  9. The sweet peas are lovely!
The book is a treasure! Please share more of the drawings. We had this book or a similar one many years back but had to part with it. So sad, as I have always been a fan of the "Gibson Girls". His drawings were marvelous; the styles exquisite. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great week
