I Love Gingham!

I was inspired be Donna and Carol, who have both recently posted some lovely photographs of their kitchens . They have wonderful collections of tins and enamelware that I share a passion for. I also love old gingham fabrics which I use everywhere in my kitchen!

I have it behind chicken wire in one of my wall cupboards. And it is printed on this lovely set of enamelware canisters......
I also have the same gingham as a curtain on my floor standing unit....it hides a multitude of sins! I added a length of hand crochet lace to the bottom hem, to give it more of a country look.

I have various gingham inspired accessories....

And of course I have it at my windows!
Well...everywhere really!!!....

I just find gingham so cheerful!

  1. Hello Niki! I think I'm up and running! =)
BLUE GINGHAM! Would you believe my house came with light blue gingham wallpaper in the kitchen? I was horrified at first, but since I collect blue willow and flow blue, AND the kitchen had a built-in plate display rack around the perimeter below the ceiling, the gingham stayed! I love your curtain with the crochet trim - lovely idea!

  26. Nikki, your post reminded me of a young sister-in-law's wedding years ago, blue and white gingham everywhere! It was charming, and I still come across one of the tablecloths once in awhile and remember it all over.

    Your kitchen is delightful!

  32. I love gingham too. I've used a lot of red and white gingham in my flat. I agree, it really is cheerful. Only problem is that George is not keen on it although I think I'm slowly getting him converted. He tells me that when he was younger he used to be scared of it! Very strange I know. How could anyone be scared of a fabric, particularly such a jolly one.
