Paparazzi?

What's this? - Did I catch a voyeur in my shop yesterday, armed with his camera, twitching behind my net curtains?

No, its all above board! This BBC camera man was looking for an artistic vantage point to film the start of the 1930's era on the Market Place.

My lace pelmet and small window frames made it a more interesting spot to film the vintage cars arriving with the families, who start their next block of life in a bygone time.
Once again I shall share more of my photos once the programme goes out at the end of the year - For some of the time yesterday, the Market Place was closed off to pedestrians, so access to my shop was limited...thankfully I ended up with some good sales, so no real harm done....and it did mean that very few could take photos, so I had the perfect front row seat! ;-))

There promises to be some excitement on Saturday when they wrap-up the 1930's...

So I've started working on some patriotic cushions for the shop's front window display.
3 more to do, so I must get on...
Enjoy the rest of your week,
Niki x

  1. Gosh Niki, if I worked for you these days I would be FIRED!!! How do you manage to get anything done with all this lovely exciting stuff going on outside your window????

I love the first photo of the gorgeous car and row of buildings, with the chaps in their old fashioned gear on...then the guy in the HV jacket in the shot. Hee hee!

I can't wait for this to start...right up my street so they say...except it's actually YOUR street really! ;o) xxx

  2. Hi Niki,

how exciting. I can't wait to see it. The market look amazing. Hopefully we will see it in person when we visit in Sep 2011.

Love, love, love your shop, if only we have something like that here. I also have to say your book is my favourite, I bought it as a belated xmas present to myself last year :)

Birthday wished to your daughter from Australia,

  3. I spotted your shop on the TV news this evening - there was a piece about the goings-on in SM on Points West.

  4. Your photos are better than any BBC promotion campaign for the series! I can't wait to see it ~ so fascinating to see the typography styles changing on the facades ~ thank you for keeping us updated with these little snippets ~ it is a bit like a 'mini series' in its own right!

Glad that things are going well for you.

  6. so good to see you today. LOVED my visit to the 1930's dressmakers. What a super lady she is! Only criticism is the modern bright pink dolls house in the toy shop window.. I could have provided something MUCH more suitable.. smile!
