My Workroom.

Well the Christmas tree has been put out for recycling and the decorations are back in boxes in the attic. I have been busy making things in my workroom today and I must admit it was good to get crafting again after the long Christmas break that I allowed myself this year!
I thought I would share with you a few areas of my workroom......I am not the tidiest of people, but I did sort through my stock of materials during the holiday.

I have a large collection of old French fabric covered boxes which are perfect for storing buttons, lace, ribbons, velvet flowers, old brooches, buckles and postcards.....

I just need to remember what I am storing in each of them!

Red fabric scraps in my little French vitrine and linens piled up on top of my large glazed cabinet, that houses the rest of my vintage fabrics.....

There is an open fire place in my workroom, with this useful shelved area above....perfect for storing more buttons!....
A hat box full of beautiful old millinery flowers and the chest that I covered in a previous post.
It now holds business cards and contacts as well as more vintage postcards.

Not sure how long it will stay this tidy....but I shall try!.....

  3. I am not-so-much crafty, but I think even I could create something from your fabulous stash of fabrics and lace and flowers! How inspired you must feel, to have it so neat and orderly!

  4. Niki what a lovely environment as Sheila said. It makes me want to dress mine up more and glad to know I'm not the only untidy one.
I was trying to find the post about the spread in the magazine- I'd love to get a copy - I searched at BnN over the holiday and did get a couple great English Mags but didn't see your place and I can't find the post... clue me in sweetie lol.

I have never seen such a huge collection of fabric covered boxes! I thought I was overdoing it by keeping one for myself when I already had one but I dont feel so guilty anymore! Oh yeah, if you evcer want to clear out some of that fabric, I will take it off your hands, just to be helpful of course!

  6. Niki,
Isn't it nice to get back to a routine? Christmas is great but I'am always glad to get things back to normal. Also I can spend money on myself now, off to the thrift store tomorrow!! Just finished embroidering a whole Edwardian apron. picture on my blog. Now I'am working on making some valentines. Bet you have made Valentines. Maybe you will be posting some pictures. I will look to see. Yours will probably make mine look pre-school-ish. HA

  18. Oh my! my head would spin if that was my workroom! I wouldn't know where to start with all those fabrics. I think my mind would jump from idea to the next without finishing anything. I have to have an overload of rattan, wicker and seagrass to hide my stash in...not as pretty to the eye as yours. WOW!

  21. OK!! I feel guilty now for having so many fabric covered boxes!! But in my defence, I USE every single one and I have collected them over many years. (I will always buy vintage over modern and prefer to look at them stacked up rather than a modern alternative.)
