The Weekend

Thank you to Lizzie and Clare for organising a fabulous Giant Rag Market at the Cheese and Grain, Frome. I didn't take photos of the stalls this time - I get the feeling these don't interest those who have not been able to attend...So this time I've taken some pics of the items I was able to buy there - maybe it will encourage some who have not been before, to visit next time - Its clear to see there are lots of beauties on offer and definitely not just tat that dealers were trying to clear! :)
I came home with this huge pile of wonders!
Textiles and trims.
Shoe stretchers, powder puff, and a hand painted box containing collar studs.
Brooches and collars embroidered with pansies.
The tiniest Victorian pudding doll with hand made dress.
These French wire beaded leaves will make perfect wings for my next batch of fairy dolls.

A gift for a friend.
Cottage print and useful c1930's books.
Crumpled vintage millinery roses.
Beautiful bags and purses from Jo.

And this carpet bag too.

Not bad eh?!
My next fair is The Cotswold's Vintage Fair in August.
On Sunday we were all together as a family celebrating the very first Birthday of a very special little girl

Our daughter invited family from far and wide and put on a garden party for us all at her home.

There were cakes galore!
Hedgehogs made by our younger daughter.

And a buffet served in flower pots!

With three renditions of 'Happy Birthday' for three members of the family all born on July 4th! -  And a home-made cake for each of them! Roll-over Nigella! ;-))

  1. I always love seeing all the stalls at the fairs you attend. I always have a good look at them all to see what is for sale even if I can't be there myself! You found some lovely things. I love all your textiles and trims and the pretty roses and painted box. Keep taking all your lovely photos!

  2. Congretulations with your granddaughter and the other family member who celebrate their birtday tomorrow. I love your purchase at the market, specially the victorian cake doll and the beaded leaves.

  3. Wasn't the rag market great. I had lots of custom and spent lots too!
    The birthday tea looks lovely.

  4. Great use of flower pots. The cupcakes made my mouth water. What are you going to use the shoe stretchers for?

  5. hi Nikki- thankyou for such a lovely comment, thats very kind of you xx

Sooooooo pleased you bought the carpet bag from Jo, I was in a state of should-I-shouldn't-I most of the day (do I need yet ANOTHER carpet bag?) and now I know it's gone to a good home!

It was a really nice fair to do wasn't it?
    See you soon

  6. So hard to believe your precious grandbaby is already one! Happy Birthday! Those three cakes look fun.
Looks like you found some fabulous treasures once again. :)
I sent you an email earlier... don't know if you knew it was I (stitchintyme9). :)

  7. Thank you for your comments...To Ruth Kelly - The vintage (c1930's) shoe stretchers are a popular stock item in my shop. There are many antique shoe collectors out there and the old shoe stretchers are the perfect shape for keeping them in good condition and 'in shape' - the shoes that is not the collectors!

  8. Thank you for your lovely comment and helping to make Saturday a special event. Clare and I would love to do another Giant Rag in the future. Lizzie x (PS nice finds!!!!)

  9. ciao complimenti le borsette sono bellissime baci a presto lu.

Thank you for finding the time to visit me...
