The gorgeous sunshine has awoken lots of the flowers that were sleeping late this year...For now, its the time for lilacs...One of my most favourite blooms...and the scent... divine! |
Makes me just want to bury my face in it! :) |
I love its old fashioned appeal. |
*** To carry on the floral theme... I often find the old china posies on my travels - Very often they have broken or chipped flower heads, but with a few good ones. I've used these in the past to create swags on mirrors, but am always keen to think of new uses too. |
This time I've made the salvaged pieces into corsage brooches. |
I've added velvet millinery leaves and scraps of tatty antique lace, complete with a brooch pin attached. |
I've packaged them on old gardening book pages. |
They'll be coming with me to the fair on Saturday. |
Have another lovely day full of sunshine! I'm hoping to watch some of the Chelsea Flowers Show coverage sometime this week... Niki x |
I love all your lilac blooms, pictures and old postcards and the corsage brooches are beautiful. What a great idea. I think I might start collecting some china flowers to decorate a mirror or add to a mosaic. I often see them in charity shops and don't buy them because they're chipped. You've inspired me! Hope the sale goes well.
ReplyDeleteMy lilacs are gone already. I guess I should water them early and maybe they will stick around. Love yours.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love, love your corsage brooches with the lace. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOur lilacs are over here already, I seem to have missed them, so thank you for letting me enjoy photos of yours instead. You have a super collection of lilac themed goodies. I am off to Chelsea tomorrow. I can't wait - great weather and a day away from the builders! V cute brooches. Roll on Saturday - aaarrgghh!
