Happy New Year! (And Decade!)

A Very Happy New Year to all who visit my blog: family, friends, blogging buddies, followers and lurkers! I'd also just like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have lavished their time so generously towards me over the past year, by emailing me or by leaving comments to my posts - I am truly grateful and appreciate each and every contact. x
Perhaps you have received the email that is doing the rounds on the internet at the moment, with its many positive messages backed up by beautiful snow filled landscapes? A couple of friends sent it to me last week and so I thought I'd pick out a few of the quotes that I particularly like......I think the very wise, positive thoughts that they encourage are important - I believe a happy and positive disposition helps us get through the more difficult times...Perhaps it would be better to bear such thoughts in mind throughout our lives, rather than hastily making New Year's resolutions that we feel pressured into making, but which we would actually find hard to stay true to? Be Happy!
**
1: When in doubt - just take the next small step.
2: Life is too short to waste hating anyone.
3: Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
4: Make peace with your past so it won't screw-up the present.
5: Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
6: Your children get only one childhood.

7: Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
8: Be eccentric now - Don't wait for old age to wear purple! (I love this one and VERY often wear purple!)
9: No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
10: Frame every so-called disaster with these words. 'In five years, will this matter?'
11: Forgive everyone everything.
12: The best is yet to come.

I hope that 2010 will be a happy year for all!
Niki x
I couldn't resist taking this photo yesterday when hubby and I took a breather in Wells - The outside seating area for the Swan Hotel had been doused in layers of artificial snow, which looked extremely pretty with the magnificent cathedral in the background.
