A Jumble, Shopping, and Lots of Tea Drinking!

I've visited two great little places over the last couple of days...will tell you about those in just a minute...
First a quick round-up of the V&H Vintage Jumble Sale at Rangeworthy, that took place on Saturday. Organised by Michele and Jayne.
(My stall)
Here we are, all set up and ready to go...

To my left was Jane's stand...
And to my right was Lucy's.

This one is Jo's.
Here's Belinda's...
Then it was time to sell, sell sell!

And for some of us; buy, buy, buy! ;-))
I bought a lovely Steiff deer from Michele. The French fabric pelmets, glass trinket pot with blue tit lid, fabric covered drawers and the mink hat all came from Jo.
The lovely pink tin is going to be part of my friend's Christmas pressie.

Thank you to all who made a purchase from my stall - I hope you had a great time.

I didn't expect to wake up the next morning to snow!!!
I was a little disappointed, because hubby and I had planned a day out on Sunday. Having spoken to Sue on Saturday (who I have known since I opened my first shop), and learning that her little shop in Wiltshire would be open the next day, we'd decided to go and pay her a visit, as we'd not been before...

Thankfully the snow didn't last long and it was soon melting at a rapid pace...so were able to set off for Lacock after all. The surface water levels on the roads were very high - We even passed the fire brigade who had gone to the rescue of a lovely house just outside Box, which had flooded...They were pumping the water from the front garden into the nearby river.

Here's the river at Lacock, which had burst over the retaining wall.

We took refuge in the tea rooms in the centre of the village.

After a refreshing brew we set off to look for Sue's lovely little shop...

With the displays of Frenchy brocante outside, it wasn't difficult to find!
A tiny, but beautifully formed shop awaits!
Here are a few pics of the treasures inside...

Sue has a blog and can be found here.
A few more photos, these taken around the wonderful C13th Lacock village...

A charming place to visit at any time of the year.
We've visited before once or twice!

Today I've been out again...Feeling slightly guilty at the thought of that...but for me, Sunday and Mondays tend to be my weekend...And usually Sundays are spent out somewhere buying stock, not relaxing at home...For once I've had some time off with my friend!

And where better than to visit another lady I've known for several years...
In her perfectly wonderful new tea shop in Castle Cary.
Nell has opened Mother's Little Vintage Tea Room in her home on the main high street in the town.
It is completely stunning inside and instantly transports you back to the early 1930's. The attention to detail is 100%. Above and below is the entrance hall...

Inside you can choose a little round table set with crisp linen embroidered table cloths, sit on dark bentwood chairs and enjoy the relaxed environment heated by the open coal fire.

Nell will arrive at your table dressed in her authentic looking uniform to take your order. Select from a large range of teas, coffees and other traditional drinks. Accompany with crumpets, sandwiches, organic salads, homemade soups or an indulgent cream tea.

Also available to buy at Mother's are loose leaf teas, coffee beans, bottles of French pink lemonade and some vintage bits and pieces such as tea cups and saucers.
I'd recommend a visit to anyone in the area as a cosy place to enjoy a light lunch in an atmosphere from gentler times.
We spent the rest of the day wandering around the lovely little shops of Castle Cary...where things are already very festive!
Hope you enjoyed the photos today.

Happy Guy Fawkes Night!
