Fun with Fabrics

A little painted set of drawers that I bought this week...
Received a quick makeover...
Paintwork was waxed for protection...
And I applied this wonderful old Huckleberry Finn fabric that I bought from Sue, to the drawer fronts...

And the top.
Cute as a child's beside table.
**
I also wanted to show this little pelmet that I made from a gorgeous appliquéd net that I bought from Lizzie.
I carefully trimmed away the net from around the bottom edge of the appliqué and made a channel at the top to thread a wire through.
It hangs in the room that I gave the recent make-over to.
(Hides the ugly plastic window frames!!!)
OK, that's all folks!
Have a great weekend...
I'm off to my shop now,

  8. Lovely chest of drawers... I have a question. How do you finish the edges? If I ever get to the UK, I would go directly to your shop!

  9. Thank you for your comments - I have received a few emails in response to this post...Here is my method for the drawers: I used PVA glue for my make-over. I make sure I spread an even, but thin coat over the area to cover, using a large paintbrush, making sure not to miss anywhere, as this will cause air bubbles. A careful smoothing of the fabric is then all it takes – making sure not to pull in the wrong direction to the weave. Any seepage should be OK, as the glue dries clear. I carefully trim the edges and gently flick them with the gluey brush and smooth any fibres down firmly with my finger.
    Hope that helps,
    Niki
